CLYDE, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) —The City of Clyde has issued a boil water notice due to a break in the water main. Schools and other parts of the town were without water, resulting in an early release day. According to the school administration, the break drained the water towers .

On September 11, some schools in the area had no water, leading to an early release day. Schools and other parts of the town were without water, and people could not flush toilets or wash their hands. The Clyde CISD administration stated that the main break had “drained all the water towers.”

A boil water notice was issued as public works crews repaired a 12-inch water main break at Pine and North 2nd Street.

Wednesday morning, Clyde ISD officials were unsure whether classes would continue on Thursday. However, superintendent Bryan Allen shared that the city has completed the repair to the water line, and all campuses have had their water restored, meaning the school will resume the regular schedule tomorrow.

“We want to thank the City of Clyde for such a quick response,” Allen shared.

Due to the city’s boil water notice, all water fountains at district locations will be turned off. Clyde ISD will provide bottled water for students starting tomorrow. The district also requests that parents send a bottle of water with their student(s) if possible.

The boil water notice will stay in place until the repairs are finished and water samples are sent for testing.
