ABILENE, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) – A large, new development off I-20 in Abilene has a lot of potential for big business, and developers are not ruling anything out – including beloved travel stop Bucc-ees.

During a meeting Thursday, city council members approved rezoning 10.1 acres located at the corner of Loop 322 and E Stamford Street from agriculture to heavy commercial.

This means several different types of businesses could potentially move-in, including large equipment rental, a hotel, or a travel stop.

When city council members explicitly asked the developer if the plot, which is ideally situated on Abilene’s busiest highway, could be a Bucc-ees, he said that they “can’t say at this time what it would be or what it wouldn’t be.”

The name and type of business moving into the location has not been disclosed, but the rezoning did get unanimous approval by council.

If you look at Buc'ees website for future builds through 2028 we aren't on the radar. Sad but true.
