ABILENE, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) – A chase suspect caught in Taylor County Tuesday night stabbed himself in the eye and other areas of his body before he was taken into custody.

Garry Don Anderson II, 41, of Millsap, Texas, is now recovering from his injuries at Hendrick Medical Center North following the chase that ended on I-20 in Taylor County around 9:30 p.m.

A press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety states Anderson was armed with a knife while fleeing the scene of an assault in Parker County when the pursuit began.

He fled down I-20 while being pursued by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Cisco Police Department, according to the press release.

Anderson was eventually caught after a DPS trooper deployed spike strips in Taylor County.

“It was discovered that Anderson had stabbed himself in the eye and had several self-inflicted stab wounds on his body,” the press release explains.

Anderson will be officially booked into jail and charged once he is released from the hospital.
