ABILENE, Texas ( KTAB/KBRC ) – Hendrick Health will hold a public hearing by its Certificate of Public Advantage (COPA) to allow testimony from the public regarding its acquisition of Hendrick Medical Center South (formerly Abilene Regional Medical Center).

The hearing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 27, at the Hendrick Medical Center Shelton Building, Auxiliary Conference Center, 2000 Pine Street, Abilene, Texas 79601.

Written testimony must be electronically submitted or postmarked by September 29, 2024. If testifying in person, attendees will enter through Hendrick Medical Center’s Shelton Building at 2000 Pine Street, Abilene, Texas.

The Certificate of Public Advantage is a House Bill (H.B.) 3301, 86th Legislature, 2019, Regular Session added Chapter 314A to the Texas Health and Safety Code (HSC). HSC Chapter 314A permits qualifying hospitals in certain low-population counties to apply for a COPA, granting merging hospitals immunity from federal and state antitrust laws.
