McMurry University receives $10 million donation, making it the largest gift in its history

ABILENE, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) – McMurry University received the most significant gift in its history, a $10 million donation from an anonymous donor. This contribution supports several major initiatives, including:

• $2 million to support the Center for Business Excellence, enhancing resources and opportunities for business students.
• $3 million for student scholarships to support student success, retention, and graduation.
• $5 million to develop new proposed athletics facilities, further strengthening the university’s athletic programs.

“This commitment demonstrates the willingness of our constituents to continue investing in the future success of McMurry,” said Vice President for Institutional Advancement Mike Hutchison. “We are immensely grateful for this profound show of support.”

The historic grant comes at a pivotal moment of leadership transition. After 21 years of service to McMurry University, from her time as a faculty member to her 11 years as president, Dr. Sandra S. Harper is set to retire in January 2025. Dr. Murray is slated to succeed Dr. Harper starting on January 10, 2025
