    Abilene Salvation Army Captain heads to North Carolina for disaster relief

    ABILENE, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) — A Salvation Army leader in Abilene is heading to North Carolina for disaster relief efforts following Hurricane Helene. Joshua McKain is en route to Asheville, NC, to replace a team that has been on site for several days .

    We caught up with McKain at the DFW airport as he transferred flights after departing from Abilene.

    “Their volunteers and their staff, everybody just runs short and dry. They have already been on the ground serving for about two weeks, and we are just so relieved to come in and take over North and South Carolina equipment, to give them a break,” McKain explained.

    McKain will be part of a rapid response unit that can reach remote areas with damaged roads and no electricity, providing food and drinks.
