BIG COUNTRY, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) – Last week, residents across the Big Country were treated to the rare and awe-inspiring sight of the Northern Lights. While some ventured to scenic spots like Fort Phantom Hill for a clearer view, others were lucky enough to witness the spectacle from the comfort of their own backyards. A powerful geomagnetic storm made the stunning display of the Aurora Borealis possible, and here are some photos from the event:

Eric Clifton took these photos at the Fort Griffin Living History Days event near Albany, Texas.

Joseph Miller Photography caught the Northern Lights from Brownwood State Park.

Tammy Calder captured the Aurora Borealis just north of Fort Phantom Hill.

Our Weekend Meteorologist, Katalina Bell, captured this from the Wylie area.
