ABILENE, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) – An Abilene contractor accused of misappropriating $110,000 worth of funds from a client has been indicted.

Joel Morris was indicted Thursday on one count of Misapplication of Funds in connection to the allegations.

Court documents state Morris is accused of taking draws from a client’s construction loan, “in order to pay for materials and services for his own property and other properties instead of placing the funds into a trust for use on the [the client’s] property.”

Morris also allegedly increased the amount billed for materials and services to use that money for his property as well, according to the documents.

The total amount of money Morris is accused of stealing from his clients is around $110,000.

Morris was initially arrested in June 2020 then released from jail after posting a $5,000 bond.

Yet you as a typical working American go still $100 worth of valuables from your neighbor and you are not getting a slap on the wrist but let it be thru a business and you only pay a fine.

You mean "stealing" clients' funds. Let's not clean up verbiage, but call it what it is
