ABILENE, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) – A new era has arrived in Abilene animal adoption, as today was the grand opening of the Jane and Phil Guitar Pet Adoption and Resource Center.

Previously, All Kind operated the former shelter located at 925 South 25th Street, constructed in the 1950s. The new location at 610 East South 11th Street is modern and has many exciting features.

The building features a veterinary suite, pet and family play areas, and a spacious design that ensures comfort for both the animals and the visitors. More than 5.5 million dollars were raised through public/private partnerships with the City of Abilene.

The project started in August 203 and now operates as the official Abilene Animal Shelter. Andrea Robinson, the founder of All Kind Animal Initiative, told KRBC that while today is an exciting milestone, she is most looking forward to the many happy memories yet to come.

Robinson also said, “We have our cat playroom we’re standing in front of, we have dog yards, and all dogs have indoor-outdoor runs. And it’s just a night and day difference from the old facility. And we’re so excited to welcome the community in here and hopefully help them find their next family member.

The new shelter is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., stray drop off and owner surrenders available by appointment only on select days and times.
