Devinci Cycles' Two New Mountain Bikes Eschew Industry Fads
By Deven McCoy,
The Troy is one of Devinci Cycles' most popular bikes, and for good reason. Since its arrival in 2014, the Troy has always been a well-thought-out and capable trail bike, never really giving into the sway of industry trends or gimmicks. The new models are right on brand with their younger siblings. Read about our history with the Troy in the Not-So-Retrospective series.
What's new
The New Troy and Troy ST are not trying to be anything they aren't. You won't see any wildly new and radical suspension claims, electronic-only frame construction, or fully hidden cable routing through the headset. Instead, you get a no-nonsense aluminum trail bike proudly made in Canada. For 2025, Devinci is launching two Troy models to round out the range and cater to a broader swath of riders and styles.
Both models say goodbye to super boost spacing, get updated geo numbers, internal cable routing through the frame, and, in no surprise to anyone, downtube storage options with the new "Shed" hatch. For now, each model will only be available in one configuration, with expanded offerings and frame kits becoming available in the coming months.
The Troy ST GX AXS - MSRP: $5,299.00 USD
The new Troy ST, is the short-travel powerhouse of the Troy family. With its agile 130mm travel Split Pivot frame and updated geometry featuring size-specific chainstays (Low:XS-MD: 435mm, LG/XL: 445mm /High:XS-MD: 432mm, LG/XL: 442mm), it’s built for spirited climbs and rowdy descents. Available with complete 29” wheels in M-XL sizes and 27.5” wheels for XS-S sizes, the ST knows exactly what it is. Proudly made in Canada and backed by a lifetime guarantee, this bike is ready for anything.
This short-travel sprite flexes some impressive geometry numbers thanks to the flip-chip and updated geo trickling down from the longer travel Troy. The head tube is 65.0-degrees in the low setting and 65.7 degrees in the high setting across the size ranges. The Seat tube angle does get slacker throughout the sizes, though, and there is further variation depending on the flip chip setting (Low: XS-78.8, SM-78.4, MD-78.6, LG-77.3, XL-77.1. High: XS-79.6, SM-79.2, MD-79.4, LG-78.0, XL-77.8)
The Troy GX AXS build is an entire SRAM GX T-type drivetrain and Level 4-piston brakes. This build features the RockShox Pike Ultimate fork, with the 3.1 Charger damper, ButterCups, and the DebonAir+ air spring for a smooth ride. At the rear, the RockShox Deluxe Ultimate shock provides exceptional traction, fine-tuning options, and outstanding control. Raceface handles the finishing kit and wheels, while an SDG Tellis handles the dropper post.
Travel: 140mm front / 130mm rear
Rear hub spacing: 12 x 148 Boost
Wheel Size: Full 29” (M-XL) Full 27.5” (XS/S)
The Troy Alloy GX AXS - MSRP: $5,549.00 USD
The fifth generation Troy isn't just getting a color and geometry update; it represents a new generation of advanced aluminum frames from Devinci Cycles’ Chicoutimi factory. With a smooth profile and clean welds, the Troy embraces internal cable routing, downtube storage, and size-specific chainstay lengths (Low setting: 435mm for S/M, 445mm for LG/XL. High 432mm S/M / 442mm LG/XL). It boasts 150mm of rear travel and a threaded bottom bracket for added durability.
We also see the seat tube angles shifting slightly throughout the sizes and flip-chip settings (Low: SM-78.1, MD-77.8, LG-76.4, XL-76.2, High: SM-78.9, MD-78.6, LG-77.2, XL-77.0), which is something to consider when deciding what size you’d ride.
The new Troy gets a bump in travel from previous generations and is now 150mm rear and 160mm front; the latest generation of the Troy continues to be the ‘quiver-killer’ in Devinci’s lineup. Not as spritely as the Troy ST, but not as hard-charging as the Chainsaw, the Troy is what Goldilocks would steal from those poor bears.
To accompany the increase in travel numbers, the Troy also sees a tweak in geometry for a more aggressive feel. The head tube angle is now hitting the 64.7-degree mark in high setting and 64 degrees in low mode. With the Geo-Saver mullet chip, riders can use either a 27.5'' or 29'' rear wheel without altering the bike's geometry, but the bike comes standard as a mullet.
As the name suggests, the Troy GX AXS features full SRAM GX Transmission. SRAM also supplies suspension with the RockShox Lyrik Ultimate fork, the 3.1 Charger damper, ButterCups, and the DebonAir+ air spring for a smooth ride. At the rear, the RockShox’s Super Deluxe Ultimate with Linear XL Air Can provides exceptional traction and support. Clad in a finishing kit from Raceface for the cockpit and wheels, a reliable and serviceable SDG Tellis dropper post, and Sram Code brakes.
