Loris Vergier won the 2024 Downhill World Championships in Andorra, with a near-perfect run. The 2024 World Champs was one of the tightest races we have ever seen, with the top three spots on the podium being separated by fractions of seconds. In fact, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place all clocked in at exactly 2 minutes and 38 seconds. Still, Loris displayed near-perfect precision and focus, making him one of the best riders ever in an incredibly ruthless sport.

For years, Loris Vergier was one of downhill racing's legendary figures without a World Champ title to his name. He came close multiple times, finishing on the overall World Cup podium in 2021, 2022, and 2023. A flawless run in 2021 could have secured him a win, and in 2023, he claimed third in an all-French World Championship podium.

After a long wait, Vergier's breakthrough finally arrived on August 31, 2024, when he clinched the World Championship title in a fiercely competitive Elite Men’s final in Andorra.

However, Vergier openly admits he struggled with self-doubt. In a new video reflecting on his journey to the rainbow stripes, he shares insights from a challenging season leading up to that extraordinary run. At just 28 years old, he’s among the older competitors in an increasingly youthful and fearless sport, prompting him to question if his championship window had closed. Despite these doubts, his focus never wavered.

When at his best, he is undeniably one of the smoothest and most intuitive riders on a downhill bike. This video delves into Vergier’s thoughts and the tense moments leading up to one of the most remarkable performances of his career.
