Researchers work to identify 82 million-year-old dinosaur found in Mississippi
It's the most complete dinosaur ever found in Mississippi, but exactly what it was remains a mystery. It's been identified as a hadrosaur; a member of a family of similar dinosaurs, and it roamed what is now Northeast Mississippi about 82 million years ago. It was an herbivore measuring 25-26 feet long and when standing on its back legs was about 16 feet tall.

SUMMARY: Members of the Class of '65 from Siggers High School, the first high school for African Americans in Shannon, Mississippi, aim to honor their legacy of struggle and triumph by securing a historical marker for the site. Now the location of Shannon Elementary, only one original building remains. District Sixteen Representative Rickey Thompson supports fundraising efforts for the marker, which would highlight the significance of African American education prior to integration.
