Two casino restaurants failed their health inspections and two other kitchens were cited this month for bugs, rodents or animals present.

IP Casino Resort on Bayview Avenue in Biloxi had scheduled inspections on July 31. Two restaurants received a C for critical violations while 11 other kitchens at IP Casino scored an A with no violations.

Highlights Sports Book was cited for:

Mississippi follows the U.S. Food and Drug Administration 2022 food code, which directs inspectors to look for evidence of insects or rodents, but Mississippi Health Department does not specify whether the inspector found insects, mice or some type of animal such as a pet in the kitchen.

Two restaurants in South Mississippi were cited this month for having bugs, rodents or animals present:

Donco , 1515 West Central Ave., Wiggins, was inspected Aug. 9 following a complaint. It was cited for:

Restaurants and kitchens in Mississippi are rated “A” if they pass the health department inspection, “B” if all violations are corrected during the inspection and “C” if the violations are critical.

The health inspection grade must be displayed in all restaurants, in kitchens such as school cafeterias, day care centers, and cafes and bars where food is sold.

Other restaurants and kitchens that scored a C this month are:

    ▪ Improper cold holding temperatures, a repeat offense.
