Authorities arrested two suspects in connection to an incident in which an armed man allegedly threatened a school bus on Friday, the Moss Point Police Department said in a news release.

Police said Jacinta Kendral McPherson, 40, used a car to block a school bus from driving forward. Edwin Eugene White, 23, then tried to “confront the bus,” which had children on board, police said.

Police said school officials reported White had an assault-style weapon during the incident. The department did not immediately release more details on the altercation.

Police were also called to Kreole Elementary School, where a parent reported McPherson was sitting in a car with a handgun, according to the news release.

Moss Point Police and Jackson County emergency services unit searched a residence at 5609 Rose Drive in Moss Point on felony and arrest warrants in connection to what the department called two “alarming incidents.”

White is facing a felony charge of simple assault against a school official, in this case the bus driver. He is held at the Jackson County jail without bond.

McPherson faces a charge of interference with the operation of a school bus and has been released on signature bond, police said.
