This South Mississippi restaurant serves fast and healthy food, and it’s about to close

It’s only been open for about a year, but the Salad Station restaurant in Ocean Springs is closing.

Saturday, Sept. 7 will be the final day for the restaurant at 1407 Bienville Blvd.

One of the franchise owners, Kelly Pugh Pilger confirmed the closing on Facebook Thursday after several people posted that they went into the restaurant and were informed by the staff that the business will close.

“We are closing Salad station in Ocean Springs but our D’Iberville location will still be open,” she said.

“Salad station is wonderful, and we get nothing but compliments and great reviews most of the time,” she said. “Unfortunately, under our current business plan it is not profitable.”

Several people commented on the news, saying: “No! We love going there,” and “Thank you for introducing us to them and we will definitely go to the D’Iberville location.”

The D’Iberville restaurant is at 10598 D’Iberville Blvd.

“We are very disappointed and hate that we are closing down so soon but it’s the best decision for us,” Pilger said. “Maybe somebody else will want to come in and buy the business. Ocean Springs definitely needs a good, quick and healthy option.”

The Ocean Springs restaurant was the first in the chain to have a drive-thru window for orders.

Salad Station was founded in 2012 by Louisiana vegetable farmers and is based in Hammond, Louisiana. Salads come with a choice of more than 100 toppings and are priced by weight.

The company had no comment on the closing of the Ocean Springs store.

In a press release, the company said it wanted to open an additional 17 locations by the end of 2024 and another 50 over the next two years.
