An MDOT traffic camera captured backups on Tuesday on Interstate 10 in Jackson County. MDOT

The overturned camper near Franklin Creek Road caused backups in I-10’s eastbound lanes on Tuesday. Cars slogged through a near standstill at 3:30 p.m., and traffic stretched west to Highway 63 .

At 3:55 p.m., the Mississippi Department of Transportation estimated delays would last another hour.

The delays may slow Louisiana drivers traveling east to evacuate Tropical Storm Francine , which is expected to make landfall in Louisiana on Wednesday as a Category 2 storm.
