It’s been about three months since Buc-ee’s began posting job openings for management level positions for the new store near Pass Christian, and the company continues to look for candidates.

The walls are also now up at the travel center, which will create 200 full-time jobs. A job fair for hourly positions typically is held about three months before a new Buc-ee’s opens.

Buc-ee’s is known for paying higher wages and giving benefits of medical, dental, vision coverage and three weeks of paid vacation to full time employees.

Jobs posted on Indeed and other national employment sites are paying:

    ▪ $125,000 for assistant general manager and gift/merchandise manager

    ▪ Up to $31 hour for grocery manager

    ▪ $20 an hour for bookkeeper and gift/merchandise team lead

Applications can be completed on the Buc-ee’s career page or on Indeed and other online job sites.

The listings on Indeed say Buc-ee’s projected opening is February 2025. Like all construction projects in South Mississippi, that date is subject to material and weather delays.

“At this current time, we are planning on opening our Harrison County, MS location in the spring of 2025,” Buc-ee’s told the Sun Herald, making opening day six months or more away.

    Now looking for interns

The company also is looking for paid interns to work at Pass Christian and about 35 Buc-ee’s in 10 states. The interns will work in departments throughout the store to learn different aspects the business. They will earn $18 an hour while working and learning.

“This rotational position includes on-the- job training with maintenance, customer service, merchandise and food service,” the company website says.

The 10-week internship requires a minimum of 300 hours, including some weekends and holidays.

Candidates must be enrolled in college and pursuing a BA/BS in business, retailing, hotel/restaurant management, hospitality management or related major.

Among the requirements is no use of personal cell phones during work, and a benefit is the opportunity for advancement at Buc-ee’s, which has 50 locations and several more under construction.

I live about a 1/4 mile from Menge where they are opening. I need a simpler job position there like a cashier where scanning is all I have to do the whole shift. I'll even take a janitor position
