    Cruisin’ problem

Enough. I walk Beach Boulevard between Nicholson in Waveland and the Silver Slipper Casino every day. Police need to ticket the many, many Cruisin’ speeders going 50 mph and passing other cars in both directions.

    Elon Musk

Donald Trump has criticized electric vehicles throughout his campaign. Now he has the czar of electric vehicles Elon Musk, richest man in the world, at his side at campaign rallies. Does this make sense to anyone?

    On the money

Sunday’s “Helene Recovery” Sound Off was right on the money. Our various services have a multitude of deployable units that are on standby 24-7 to go anywhere in the world, at any time for anything. Two of my short stateside assignments were with Tactical/Combat Mobile AF units. In 1966, I got a 2 a.m. recall phone call. A few hours later I was on a flight to the Dominican Republic. My wife found out where I was two days later. I came back home about 6 months later. I heard that about a week after the disaster hit North Carolina, they were going to send the 82nd Airborne. After a week? They are a couple of hours from the hard-hit area. They could have been there the next day.

    Slow support

Republican House Speaker Johnson wants Congress to wait before appropriating money for hurricane Helene’s disasters. President Biden has asked Congress to speed this up, but Speaker Johnson says they need to determine the damage first. Vote them out.

    A real problem

The “One more regulation” writer talked about a problem that everyone should be concerned with. I also wonder how many of these toxic messes left behind there are on the coast and how many adjacent properties have been tested for contamination. Are current businesses we visit built on top of some of this? Are any near my home? Can it really be completely detoxified, and if it is cleaned up, where does the stuff go?

    Doomed appointment

The world’s most dangerous job is being named the leader of Hezbollah. The fourth named leader was in the position literally for a few hours before his demise. While the world keeps trying to tell Israel how to pacify Iran and its proxies, who hate them and seek their annihilation, Israel has a self defense plan they continue to execute with lethal success.

    Little help?

It sure would be nice for a policeman to be posted somewhere between Cowan and Dubuys during Cruisin’ The Coast. It’s like a drag strip.
