A star NFL player believes he could beat Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles in a race.

On Monday (August 12), Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill challenged Lyles, who won gold in men's 100-meter dash at the 2024 Paris Olympics, to a race.

“I would beat Noah Lyles,” Hill said on the “Up & Adams” podcast. “I’m not going to beat him by a lot, but I would beat Noah Lyles.”

Hill's comment came after Lyles sugggested last year following World Athletic Championships in Budapest, Hungary that the Super Bowl champions shouldn't be regarded as "world champions."

“You know what hurts me the most is that I have to watch the NBA Finals and they have ‘world champion’ on their head. World champion of what?” Lyles previously said.“The United States? Don’t get me wrong — I love the U.S. at times, but that ain’t the world.”

Lyles earned a gold medal in the men's 100m at the 2024 Olympics before c ompeting in the 200 meter final with COVID-19 . The Team USA track and field star took home bronze in the 200m but collapsed after the race and was taken off the track in a wheelchair.

Hill, who is considered the fastest player in the NFL, called out Lyles' for his previous comments after the incident.

“Noah Lyles can’t say nothing after just what happened to him,” Hill said on the podcast. “He wants to come out and pretend that he’s sick. I feel that’s like horseradish. For him to do that and say that, that we’re not world champions of our sport? Come on brother, speak on what you know about, and that’s track.”

“When I beat him, I’ll put on a COVID mask,” the NFL star quipped. “Because I mean business.”
