Mom, Boyfriend Charged After 2-Year-Old Boy Dies Of Blunt Force Trauma

A Virginia mother and her boyfriend have been charged with murder in connection to the death of a 2-year-old child, PEOPLE reports.

According to the Petersburg Bureau of Police, first responders responded to a report of a child unresponsive on Tuesday (August 13) in Petersburg, Virginia.

Police said the child was found with blood coming out of his nose and mouth. The 2-year-old was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Sadia Dewese , 29, and Jaytrez Mason , 27, were arrested on charges of felony murder and child neglect. Mason is also facing charges of possession of a firearm by a violent felon. The pair, who were reportedly dating, are being held without bond.

Dewese and Mason are both being held without bond. It is not immediately clear if either has retained an attorney or entered a plea.

Police identified the child as a 2-year-old boy. He died of blunt force trauma to the head, according to a criminal complaint.
