Beyoncé Not Performing At Democratic National Convention, Rep Says

UPDATE (10:30 p.m.): A representative for Beyoncé said she will not be performing at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.

“Beyoncé was never scheduled to be there,” a rep for the singer told The Hollywood Reporter . “The report of a performance is untrue.”

Beyoncé was reportedly slated to perform during the fourth and final night of the Democratic National Convention.

According to TMZ , Beyoncé was set to make a surprise appearance and performance on Thursday (August 22) as Vice President Kamala Harris accepted the Democratic presidential nomination at the DNC in Chicago.

The Chicago Police Department was reportedly involved in security for Beyoncé at Chicago's United Center Arena.

It was unclear what Bey would perform. However, Harris had adopted the singer's Lemonade hit "Freedom" as her campaign anthem , using the song in ads and at rallies. The vice president reportedly got permission from Beyoncé's team to use her song throughout her presidential campaign.

Beyoncé hasn't publicly endorsed Harris yet but her mother, Tina Knowles , expressed her support for the vice president's bid shortly after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.

“New, Youthful, Sharp, energy !!!!” Knowles previously wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her and Harris. “Putting personal Ego, power, and fame aside. That is the definition of a great leader, Thank you, President Biden for your service and your leadership. Go Vice President Kamala Harris for President. Let’s Go."

On Thursday, dozens of delegates showed up to the DNC dressed in Cowboy Carter -inspired outfits amid rumors of Bey's appearance.
