The four victims of the mass shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia have been identified, per CNN .

On Wednesday (September 4), a mass shooter killed two students and two teachers and injured nine others at Apalachee High School.

The suspect was identified as a 14-year-old student Colt Gray who used an AR-style rifle in the shooting. The student's classmate Lyela Sayarath said the suspect left their Algebra 1 class at roughly 9:45 a.m. Near the end of class, the suspect knocked on the locked classroom door trying to come back in. However, another student went to open the door, noticed the suspect had a gun, and refused to let him back into the classroom.

“I think he wanted to come to us first,” Lyela said.

The shooter then went to a nearby classroom and opened fire.

Authorities responded to reports of an active shooter at the high school at roughly 10:30 a.m. A school resource officer confronted the shooter, who surrendered and was taken into custody.

Victims were identified as 14-year-old students Christian Angulo and Mason Schermerhorn .

“We are truly heartbroken,” Christian’s sister, Lisette Angulo , wrote on a GoFundMe page. “He was a very good kid and very sweet and so caring. He was so loved by many.”

The shooting also left 53-year-old math teacher Christina Irimie and 39-year-old math teacher and assistant football coach Richard Aspinwall dead.

“To our beloved defensive coordinator Ricky Aspinwall, we will carry you heavy in our hearts. We love you Coach A!!!” Apalachee Football posted on X, formerly Twitter.

It remains unclear whether the suspected shooter knew or specifically targeted the victims.

see! another one has happened and nothing ever changes. they just fade away until the next one happens. I don't understand it. there is so much new technology and things happening in the world that are not nearly as important as saving the students and teachers. you would think that there would be something that we could come up with that would save them. pressure on the kids and bullying makes kids snap. that's such a tender age and a confusing time for teenagers. they're not capable of being able to handle all of the things happening to them. people think they can just brush it off. my heart breaks for the victims. I would really love it if the government would prioritize this issue. what are we waiting for? just the next one to come in a few months
