    Mom Charged With Shooting Daughter First Claimed Homeless Person Shot Her

    A Maryland mother charged with the attempted murder of her 13-year-old daughter initially tried to claim a homeless person broke into their home and shot her, according to police.

    32-year-old Talecka Brown has been arrested on several charges including first-degree attempted murder in connection to the shooting of her 13-year-old daughter, per NBC Washington .

    Police said they found the teenager with a gunshot wound on her neck last week at a home in Seat Pleasant, Maryland.

    The girl told police that she was shot after getting home from school, court documents state. According to the girl, an argument with her mom turned physical. Charging documents state the girl was walking down the stairs when she heard a gunshot and fell to the bottom.

    The teenager said her mother told her to say that she was shot by someone who broke into the home. Brown initially told police that the shooter was a person who was experiencing homelessness. The mother said her daughter was already bleeding when he came home from school, according to police dispatch audio.

    Brown later admitted that she was the only person home with her daughter at the time of the shooting.

    The girl is currently in the hospital in critical, but stable condition.
