    Planning to get out and enjoy the Fourth of July in the Binghamton area? Look no further as we break down the best events scheduled for the holiday.

    Cities, towns and villages across New York's Southern Tier are gearing up to celebrate the nation's birthday. There's a lot going on, including fireworks, parades and outdoor celebrations.

    Here's what you can expect to find in your neighborhood. Be sure to check the dates for each event, some are held before or after the holiday.

    Tuesday, July 2

    Fun Fair Week at Jellystone Park

    Starting July 2, Yogi Bear and Boo Boo will be at Jellystone Park at 600 Boswell Hill Road in Endicott as the site hosts Fun Fair Week. Activities will include fair games, water activities such as blaster battles and a parade around the lake.

    Wednesday, July 3

    Binghamton Rumble Ponies

    Start your holiday off with a meet and greet featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, who will be making an special appearance during the Rumble Ponies game on Wednesday. The Blue Angels will be signing autographs for an hour starting at 5:45 p.m. Autographs and a commemorative photo for fans are included with your game ticket purchase.

    Following the game, a special fireworks presentation will ring in the Fourth of July. For more information, visit milb.com/binghamton .

    Concerts in the Park

    From 7:30-9:30 p.m. in Owego's Hickories Park, the Kirby Band will take over the stage, playing songs from big bands and the silver screen. Following the concert, fireworks will light up the sky above the park. The concert and fireworks are free, and in the case of inclement weather, will be held at the Owego Elks Lodge at 223 Front St.

    Thursday, July 4

    Town of Union July 4th Extravaganza

    This year's extravaganza will kick off at Highland Park with the annual Chicken Barbecue , held from 12-4 p.m. Food vendors will be on site from 3-9:30 p.m.

    From 3-4 p.m., the Maine Community Band will play, followed by Friday at Fred's from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Hi-Way Fruit Market will close out the music for the evening, playing from 5:45-6:46 p.m.

    The evening's fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. and feature synchronized music by Magic 101.7FM and 102.5 The Vault. In case of rain, fireworks will be held the following night.

    4 on the 4th Road Race

    Beginning at 8 a.m. on July 4 at Visions Federal Credit Union, 3301 Country Club Road, Endwell, this Southern Tier annual staple will feature 4 miles of hills. Everyone is encouraged to attend, with the event being kid- and stroller-friendly, and featuring a post-race party. Registration is required.

    Breakfast in the Woods

    From 8-11 a.m., the Binghamton German Club will be hosting their Breakfast in the Woods at their wooded picnic grounds at 218 Loughlin Road in Binghamton. The menu will feature scrambled eggs, ham, sausage, bread and all-you-can-eat buttermilk pancakes, as well as coffee and tea. A cash bar will also be available, featuring German beers and bloody mary. Jude's Polka Jets II will be providing music for the event, and tickets are available online .

    Oakdale Commons Independence Day Celebration

    An indoor parade beginning at Guthrie and concluding at Dick's House of Sport will kick off this celebration which runs from noon to 4 p.m. at Oakdale Commons in Johnson City. At Dick's, offerings will include free rock wall climbing, golf simulators, pickleball and face painting. The day will also feature free goodies, meet and greets, live entertainment and food.

    Saturday, July 6

    Greater Binghamton Airshow

    The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will be back for the Greater Binghamton Airshow, which runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Many other aerial displays will be featured alongside vendors and food. Tickets can be purchased online .
