Police seize firearms, over 5 ounces of drugs from Binghamton apartment

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – An Endwell man is facing felony charges as a result of multiple search warrants.

On Wednesday, the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force executed a search warrant at 341 Main Street Apartment 3RE in Binghamton. As a result of the search warrant, investigators located the following items:

• A loaded .22lr caliber revolver
• A loaded Taurus brand 9mm caliber handgun
• A high capacity 9mm magazine
• Approximately 148 grams (5.2 ounces) of cocaine and crack cocaine
• $5,566 suspected drug proceeds
• Items used for weighing and packaging narcotic

As a result of the search warrant, Phillip Alvarez, 56, was arrested and transported to the Binghamton Police Department. He is facing the following charges:

• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree
• Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree
• Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree
• Three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree
• Two counts of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree
• Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree
• Resisting Arrest

An additional search warrant was executed in the Town of Union. During the search, investigators located approximately $1,500 in suspected drug proceeds.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force is comprised of members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Binghamton Police Department, and the Village of Johnson City Police Department. The Binghamton Police Department Community Response team assisted in this investigation.
