    Man shot while repossessing vehicle in Birmingham

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Birmingham Police Department is investigating after a repo man was shot while on the job Tuesday afternoon.

    At around 1:20 p.m., South Precinct officers responded to a ShotSpotter notification at 50th Street and Richard Arrington Junior Blvd North. Shell casings were found on the ground.

    Minutes later, West Precinct officers responded to a call of a person shot at Fire Station 16 on Avenue I in Ensley.

    The preliminary investigation has revealed the victim was repossessing a vehicle in the 4600 block of 12th Avenue North. He was then followed by an unknown vehicle driven by a suspect who began shooting at him. The victim drove himself to Fire Station 16 and was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

    According to BPD, persons of interest have been detained for questioning. No further information has been released at this time.
