Birmingham man charged in connection to Jefferson County shooting

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A Birmingham man was arrested Friday following a shooting that injured two people, including a 15-year-old girl, in Jefferson County on July 10 .

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, 48-year-old Christopher Andrew Perine is charged with two counts of attempted murder, one count of first-degree domestic violence and one count of third-degree domestic violence. The Tennessee State Patrol captured Perine.

“The coordination of our detective, the Birmingham and Knoxville FBI Field Offices and the Tennessee State Patrol worked together in apprehending this suspect quickly and without incident,” Jefferson County Sheriff Mark Pettway said in a statement. “This is a wonderful example of how partnerships like this keep communities safe.”

The JCSO previously announced deputies responded around 11:40 p.m. July 10 to the 2300 block of Grayson Valley Road on report of two people shot. At the scene, they found a 49-year-old man and the 15-year-old girl suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victims were transported to hospitals in unknown conditions. The JCSO stated its preliminary investigation showed the shooting appeared to be domestic related.

Perine is being held in the Loudon County Jail in Tennessee. He will be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail. The first-degree domestic violence charge carries no bond.
