    Man fatally shot at Birmingham gas station

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A man was fatally shot inside a Birmingham gas station on Saturday afternoon.

    According to Birmingham Police Department Sgt. LaQuitta Wade, a person spoke to a sergeant at the BPD East Precinct building around 4:45 p.m. and said they shot someone in the 100 block of Roebuck Plaza Drive. Officers arrived at the scene and went inside the building at the Murphy USA gas station in that block.

    Police found a man lying unresponsive suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service personnel pronounced the man dead.

    The preliminary investigation suggests a physical altercation took place inside the business between the suspect and the victim. The suspect shot the victim and turned himself into police custody.
