BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — The University of Alabama at Birmingham is requesting the public to donate blood this week.

According to UAB, it is partnering with the American Red Cross to help run blood drives. There will also be a blood drive at Regions Field from 1-7 p.m. Tuesday. Donors will earn a cooling towel and two tickets to a Birmingham Barons’ game while they are available. Those donating at Regions Field can park in the VIP Parking Lot at the corner of Third Avenue South and 14th Street South.

The donation process takes about 45 minutes, though the blood collection part usually lasts under 20 minutes. It is recommended donors hydrate and consume iron-rich foods ahead of donating.
