Democratic Socialists’ Birmingham chapter offers free auto services clinic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Volunteers from the Birmingham chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America will be fixing brake lights and fuses for locals — completely free of charge.

The Brake Light & Fuse Replacement Clinic will be operating on Aug. 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. The shop is held in the parking lot of Beloved Community Church on 41st Street South.

Free oil and filter changes will also be offered to the first nine registrants who RSVP via this form.

According to the group’s press release, organizers aim to “help working-class Birminghamians avoid unnecessary police stops, expensive tickets and fines and possible court appearances.”

The group plans to hold the clinic on the second Saturday of each month at the same location and time.
