CEO of Bham Civil Rights Institute steps down, interim named
The CEO of the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute has stepped down.<\p> President and CEO DeJuana Thompson, who joined BCRI in 2021 and took the helm in May 2022, will step down from the role "in order to increase her focus on voting rights activities and community organizing in advance of the national political elections this fall," according to a release.<\p>

Two Winn-Dixie stores gearing up for Aldi conversion
Two Winn-Dixie stores in Pinson and Bessemer are next up to be converted into Aldi stores. <\p> According to an Aldi spokesperson, the stores located on 4701 Center Point Road in Pinson and 2910 Morgan Road in Bessemer will be closed for renovations starting in mid-August. <\p>
