Shelter gives hope: King’s Harvest, Davenport, rescues starving dog
A starved dog in critical condition Tuesday has begun to walk and wag his tail thanks to the care at King’s Harvest Pet Rescue, Davenport. On Tuesday, someone brought the dog, wrapped in a sheet, in to the shelter, where staff discovered the dog was severely malnourished, had injuries on his back – likely from being kept in a crate a long time, staff told Our Quad Cities News – and could barely walk or lift his head.

West Nile Has Been Found in Iowa Mosquitoes
The good news is that at the time of writing, no humans in Iowa have yet tested positive for the West Nile virus. Mosquitos on the other hand have been found containing the virus in central Iowa. According to KCRG, mosquitoes were trapped at a park in West Ames sometime in mid-July. The park where these mosquitoes were found is sprayed or fogged every Wednesday night. Some of these mosquitoes contained the West Nile virus.

SIGOURNEY – The annual KCED hosted Sigourney Car Show was held on July 20. Best of Show was awarded Chris and Julie Parrish’s 1950 Cadillac Convertible. The Parrishes have owned the car for three years; prior to that, it was owned by Chris Parish’s father for five years. The convertible featured a new top and LS1 engine installed by Parrish. “I grew up around cars since I was probably two. So it’s been a long time. I do a lot of car shows and things like that,” said Chris Parrish.
