Working Warmer For the Weekend
OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - Temperatures today resided in the 80s. By the weekend, expect to see temperatures near 90. This weekend warmup is expected to close out the month of July. Sunday’s high at 91 will lead a multitude of days in the 90s through at least the mid part of next week and into the early days of August. This warmup comes after a pleasant week of below normal temperatures for the month of July, where highs consistently read in the low to mid 80s and upper 70s.
Southeast Missouri Wakes Up Wednesday to a New Madrid Earthquake
If you blinked, you missed it. It was brief, but there was an earthquake to make sure everyone in southeast Missouri was awake thanks to the ever-present New Madrid Fault. I noticed on the USGS earthquake map, there was a circle in southeast Missouri early Wednesday morning. The epicenter of this not large quake was just west of New Madrid, Missouri.

Nashua Woman Among 20 Compete On Live Lottery Game Show At Iowa State Fair
Three North Iowans are among the 20 contestants who will compete on a live lottery game show at the 2024 Iowa State Fair with a chance to win up to $5 million. The Iowa Lottery says they received more than 67,000 entries into their “Fair Fever” promotion that will conclude with the game show on opening day of this year’s Iowa State Fair. Contestants slated to play include Michelle Cerwinske of Nashua, Ryan Habeger of Algona, and Scott Stewart of Waterloo.
