Worcester County Health Department Warns of Rabid Animals
WORCESTER COUNTY, MD - Officials say a rabid bat was found in Pocomoke, and a rabid raccoon was found in Berlin. Worcester County Health Officials say this week, a bat was collected from a home in the 600 block of Market Street in Pocomoke City and tested positive for rabies. Additionally, a rabid raccoon was found on Ninepin Branch Road in Berlin.
Ocean Pines Man Arrested for Assault and Vandalism
Police in Ocean Pines were called to a Newport Drive home Thursday just before 5pm where they learned that a neighbor, 38 year old Joseph Pavese, used a screwdriver to puncture the tire on his vehicle. The victim saw this from inside his home and called police – then went outside where Pavese punched him in the face.

Friday was no better than Thursday and very few folks wet a line. No boats sailed from Lewes Harbour Marina or Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em. Old Inlet Bait and Tackle reported blues did blitz the Indian River Inlet on Friday morning during incoming water. The usual white bucktails with a white worm or a sliver spoon did the trick with the blues. Nasty weather is usually good news for striper fishermen and so it was on Thursday night into Friday morning when they were caught out of the Inlet on live eels or drifted sand fleas. The beach was too rough to fish.

Ocean City continuing to develop short-term rental regulations
Ocean City officials this week agreed to move forward with more regulations on short-term rentals. On Tuesday, the City Council remanded additional short-term rental regulations to the Ocean City Planning and Commission for discussion and approval. Deputy City Manager JR Harmon said staff recommended setting new occupancy limits on short-term rentals, as well as imposing a minimum length of stay for rentals in the R-1 residential and MH mobile home zoning districts.
