Cross County School District receives grant to revitalize on-campus greenhouse
CHERRY VALLEY — The Cross County School District has received a grant to revitalize its on-campus greenhouse. “It’s approximately a $92,000 grant that we have to pay about $8,000 on. For about $8,000, we’re going to receive $84,000 from the state,” said Cross County Superintendent Dr. Nathan Morris. “We’ve got a very nice greenhouse on our campus, but all of the guts are getting old. We’re going to be able to replace all the guts. … The water system, the irrigation system, the electronics, the way the fans will open, regulating the temperature, the lighting, we’ll be able to change all of that out.”

New UA philanthropic giving was $92.3 million in recent fiscal year

Aberdeen, Md. — Marlon Matilla of Stuttgart, was one of three high school teachers who attended the Joint Science and Technology Institute (JSTI) East, an educational opportunity to expand their knowledge and experience in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). JSTI East is a two-week residential program in Maryland for current high school students, teachers, and alumni of the JSTI program that exposes them to scientific research through hands-on projects. There is also a one-week component for middle school students.
