MANDAN, ND ( KXNET ) — The Bismarck-Mandan Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) held a public hearing on Monday, July 15, in Mandan City Hall to discuss upcoming road construction projects for the next several years, specifically, those highlighted in the 2025-2028 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) draft document.

Several proposed projects are listed in the 2025-2028 Bismarck-Mandan MPO Transportation Improvement Program.

Major road construction projects up for consideration at Monday’s hearing included a discussion over the reconstruction of Memorial Highway in Mandan as well as other projects proposed throughout Morton and Burleigh Counties, including the cities of Bismarck and Lincoln.

Engineers and planners from all three cities and the two counties were at the hearing to provide their input on the projects proposed in the TIP draft document.

Bismarck-Mandan MPO Transportation Specialist, Stephen Larson, says the TIP details federally-funded roadway projects that have been proposed over the next four fiscal years.

“We would like to invite the public to provide their comments and feedback on the proposals,” Larson said.

The proposal details plans for upcoming municipal street construction and expansion as well as North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) roadway projects.

Bismarck City Engineer Gabe Schell says next year’s reconstruction of I-94, from Exit 161 to Menoken, was discussed at the hearing.

Other major projects in the City of Bismarck were also addressed, including the Century Avenue reconstruction project in 2025, which will also include extending 52nd Street, north to Gold Drive in Northeast Bismarck.

Schell added that the Bismarck City Commission has also approved the multi-million dollar Tyler Parkway extension project in North Bismarck.

He says the city is currently interviewing potential engineers to work on the project, planned to begin in 2026.

The 2025-2028 draft of the Bismarck-Mandan Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) has been publicly released for public review and comment.
