BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET ) — Kids across North Dakota are revising the old Latin phrase carpe diem. Because instead of seizing the day, they’re squeezing the day through Lemonade Day.

July 20th marks Lemonade Day. Lemonade Day is a national initiative that nurtures the entrepreneurial spirit of kids by having them set up their own lemonade stands.

Lemonade Day’s mission is to have kids learn the skills they need to start a business of their own one day by learning how to save, while also giving some of the money they make from selling lemonade back to their community.

Recruiting for Lemonade Day in the Bismarck-Mandan area began months ago, where kids were given all the resources like a toolkit and workbooks to kick-start the strategic lesson-based business program.

Today, the area was spotted with lemonade stands throughout the two cities, with about 30 stands being set up.
