93-year-old woman receives diploma 75 years after being forced to quit high school
Eileen Delaney is a 93-year-old woman from Centerville, Virginia. Seventy-five years ago, she was forced to quit high school, and she never received her diploma. But on her 93rd birthday, that officially changed. Eileen finally got her diploma, an honorary degree from Port Richmond High School in Staten Island, New York, the high school she attended 75 years ago. There were balloons, a graduation cap, and a giant smile on her face.
Haggstrom Family Scholarship will support Genesee Valley Graduates
New scholarship will help educate future Alfred State College grads. The Allegany County Area Foundation (ACAF) is pleased to announce the establishment of the Haggstrom Family Scholarship. Created by David and Leslie Haggstrom of Angelica, this endowed fund will provide a scholarship to support a Genessee Valley Central School (GVCS) graduate pursuing a nursing or trade program at Alfred State College.
