African Pride pushed uniquely intricate hairstyles to the forefront of The Darling Salon’s runway show during NYFW. The brands came together to showcase the power of textured hair and bold fashion, with an elaborate show with designs by Joseph McCrae and K. Daniels and hair by celebrity braider Xia Charles.

Influencers, natural hair enthusiasts, and fans of the brand gathered at an event space in the upscale Tribeca neighborhood. Attendees witnessed a well-curated show with models who shined brightly from head to toe, emphasizing creativity and the power of Black hair.

From blunt cuts to kinky textures, Charles’ style team showed the unlimited possibilities of styling your crown in bold, statement-making designs.

Daniels and McCrae added to the fun hairstyles with ensembles that brought the drama. They created wearable pieces that balanced the looks and didn’t overwhelm the detailed styles. Bold silhouettes, structured materials, and fall prints graced the runway, serving as hair and fashion inspiration for those who aren’t afraid to stand out.

African Pride and The Darling Salon’s NYFW runway show highlights the regality of Black hair. As we continue to fight for our crown to be viewed as professional and deserving of representation in certain spaces, events like this remind us of our unbridled creativity. They also reinforce our ability to enter a room and disrupt it while birthing styles and trends that influence the world.

Oh, you do realize a lot of real Africans just poured over the border right. So I don’t know if you could really claim that African status anymore since people from Africa are here now. First generation. You’re Americans and you better claim that title before they do.
