Four people were injured in separate wrecks on East Idaho roadways over the weekend.

Two of those incidents resulted in lengthy shut downs of Interstate 15 while another caused Highway 91 to be temporarily closed to traffic.

It all started with multiple crashes around 3:16 p.m. Friday on the same stretch of Interstate 15 northbound between Fort Hall and Blackfoot in Bingham County.

A 37-year-old Blackfoot man was driving northbound on Interstate 15 in a green 2017 Peterbilt semi when he failed to yield to slowing traffic and collided with two vehicles — a 2024 BMW X3 that was being operated by a 73-year-old man from Pocatello and a silver 2023 Toyota RAV4 that was being operated by a 50-year-old woman from North Ogden, Utah, state police said.

The Toyota RAV4 was pushed into a blue 2024 Ford F250, driven by a 59-year-old Rigby man. Then the Ford F250 collided with a maroon 2022 Jeep Compass, driven by a 39-year-old woman from Aberdeen.

Nearby a black 2012 Audi A4, driven by a juvenile, collided with a green 2019 Toyota RAV4, which was being operated by a 32-year-old man from Vineyard, Utah, according to state police.

Everyone involved in the crashes was wearing a seatbelt, authorities said.

The wrecks left two people injured. A passenger in the BMW, a 70-year-old woman from Pocatello, and the driver of the silver Toyota RAV4 were transported by ground ambulances to a local hospital, state police said.

Their names and conditions haven't been released.

Northbound Interstate 15 was blocked for approximately three hours because of the crashes.

The wrecks remain under investigation by Idaho State Police.

Then on Friday night there was another crash. Two people suffered injuries in a collision that temporarily shut down Highway 91 between Chubbuck and Fort Hall.

The collision involving a motorcycle and a 2017 Hyundai Accent occurred around 9:30 p.m. Friday on Highway 91 near Edmo Road on the Fort Hall Reservation.

The motorcyclist and driver of the Hyundai were both injured in the crash. A helicopter ambulance landed on Highway 91 to airlift the injured motorcyclist to a local hospital while the Hyundai's driver was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital. Their names and conditions haven't been released.

Idaho State Police, Fort Hall police, Bannock County sheriff's deputies and the Pocatello and Fort Hall fire departments responded to the wreck, which remains under investigation.

State police are also investigating a vehicle fire that occurred around 6:15 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 15 in the Shelley area of Bingham County.

A 52-year-old man from Atlanta, Georgia, was driving southbound on Interstate 15 in a 2019 Freightliner semi when the vehicle experienced a mechanical failure and the trailer caught fire, state police said. The driver, who was not injured, managed to detach the trailer before it was destroyed by the flames.

Southbound Interstate 15 was shut down for several hours because of the incident.

Idaho State Police were assisted by the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office, Shelley Fire Department, wildland firefighters and the Idaho Transportation Department.

There was also a crash involving a Chubbuck police SUV and a car on Yellowstone Avenue in Chubbuck around 5:30 p.m. Sunday near Smith's Food and Drug. There were no injuries and the crash remains under investigation by state police.
