WVU Medicine increases support for second annual community walk for Type 1 Diabetes
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — WVU Medicine had an extensive presence at this year’s Breakthrough T1D Walk, held Aug. 17 at the Mylan Park Track and Field Complex in Morgantown. WVU Medicine Children’s served as presenting sponsor, and the event was planned by volunteers from the WVU Medicine Diabetes Education Center and WVU Medicine Children’s. In addition, representatives from adult endocrinology were on hand to help educate the public.

RAVENSWOOD, W.Va. (WCHS) — City council members in Ravenswood voted unanimously Tuesday to remove a member who they said admitted to embezzling funds. State Treasurer Riley Moore visited Shinnston City Hall on Thursday, Aug. 22,to present an unclaimed property check worth $18,009.25 to the City of Shinnston. “I am proud to reunite the residents of Shinnston with these lost funds,” Treasurer Moore said. “I want to encourage individuals and organizations to keep checking our unclaimed property database because you never know if there may be unclaimed funds in your name.”
Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department receives new truck
MINERAL WELLS — The Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department has received its new fire truck and it will be put into service in a month or so. The department recently took possession of its new 2024 Pierce Enforcer truck that will become the department’s new Engine 41, replacing a 1992 Pierce engine truck that was the front line engine for the department.
