WCSO warns of new mail scam
The Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office is warning about a new scam. Letters have been sent to multiple people in the county that appear to be official and appear to come from, QUOTE “The Clerk’s Property Office.” Washington County Sheriff Keith Sexton said there is no such office in the county government. The scam appears to target people who bought their homes or land in 2022. In the notice, you are asked to send $89 for a copy of your recorded deed, and the letter even states in bold letters that it is an ad and that you can get the same documents free or at a lesser price from your local County office. The WCSO stated anyone can get a copy of their deed through the Register of Deeds office in the Courthouse on Main Street in Jonesborough.

Investigation records give more information in Grainger County double homicide
BEAN STATION, Tenn. (WVLT) - An affidavit charging 34-year-old Aaron White with criminal homicide is giving more information into the deaths of two Grainger County people. White is a suspect in a double homicide that happened in May. According to investigators, White killed 49-year-old Jon Atkins and 32-year-old Deven McDaniel, whose bodies were discovered along Rocky Springs Road in Bean Station on May 25.
