Norman Police launch new Communication Tool that allows Community to receive Call for Service Updates on their Cell Phone
Starting July 23, Norman residents and visitors can receive updates on their emergency and non-emergency calls for police service via text message. The Norman Police Department (NPD) is the first agency in Oklahoma to initiate SPIDR Tech, a Versaterm Public Safety Company product that will send automated text messages to people who have called 911 or the non-emergency phone number and requested service from NPD.
K9 Yeko intercepts 23 kilos of fentanyl in Oklahoma
OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma - The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics is celebrating the efforts of K9 'Yeko' for intercepting 23 kilos of fentanyl being trafficked across the state this week.The amount of fentanyl seized is enough raw material for a quarter-million dosage units of fentanyl pills, according to the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics. The bureau highlighted the significant impact of Yeko's work in preventing these dangerous drugs from reaching the streets.

Asian elephant at OKC Zoo suffers miscarriage
OKLAHOMA CITY (KSWO) - The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden said one of its Asian elephants had a miscarriage over the weekend. The zoo shared that Asha, which is one of their Asian elephants, went into premature labor Sunday, July 21. Asha was 13 months pregnant, with a due date set for April 2025. The normal gestation period for elephants is 22 months.
