Crash in Residential Neighborhood Sends Man to Hospital
SAN ANGELO, TX — A two-vehicle crash in a residential neighborhood resulted in one man being taken to the hospital about 5 p.m. Friday, July 19. A red Chevy Silverado was traveling north on Stone Canyon Trail when the driver of a blue Chevy Malibu heading west on Briargrove Lane failed to yield the right of way, according to San Angelo police officer Lee Kvittem. The Silverado slammed into the Malibu on the driver's side after it rolled through the yield sign. Learn More Here.

After a mostly sunny day on Friday, chances of rain enter the forecast for the weekend and lasts into next week. Occasional hit or miss showers are possible on Saturday throughout the afternoon. Rain chances begin to increase on Sunday that last overnight and into Monday afternoon. As of now, these storms are not expected to be severe, but there is the possibility of excessive rainfall as they stall and linger over the area. A chance of rain/showers persists into next week with nearly everyday having a possibility of precipitation. Along with all this much needed rain, expect some slightly cooler temperatures as well.

San Angelo Sees Significant Increase in Home Availability
AUSTIN, TX — San Angelo’s housing market is experiencing a notable increase in home availability, with active listings up 8.4% in the second quarter of this year — one of the largest increases in the state — according to the Texas Quarterly Housing Report released Friday by Texas Realtors. Puppies abandoned at Odessa park found by Good Samaritan
ODESSA, Texas — Ten unweaned Chihuahua mix puppies were found abandoned at Casa Bella Park on Tuesday afternoon, according to Odessa Animal Control. The puppies, estimated to be about 20 days old and without teeth, include six males and four females. Dog Rescue R Us, a local rescue organization, is partnering with the Odessa Animal Shelter to provide care for the puppies.
City Council Appoints Phillips to Fill Vacant Position on Council
The Coleman City Council met Thursday, July 18, 2024, at City Hall. Agenda item number 6 was to appoint a qualified person to fill the vacancy on the City Council for Place 2, West Ward, in accordance with the City of Coleman Charter, Section 2.06. Two names were mentioned, Joe Haynes and Berry Phillips. The Council voted to appoint Berry Phillips to fill the unexpired term of Place 2. Phillips will take the place of Sharlene Taylor Hetzel whose resignation from the Council was effective June 5, 2024. The Council also awarded a bid to Core & Main Waterworks of San Angelo for the Texas Water Development Board Lead Service Line Replacement Project. In other business, items 9 and 10, pertaining to a Pole Attachment License Agreement, were withdrawn from the agenda at the beginning of the meeting.

Awards Day Held for Coleman Public Library Summer Reading Program
The Coleman Public Library and Friends held Awards Day for the 2024 reading program “Adventure Begins at Your Library” on Wednesday, July 17th, at 2:00 pm at the Family Center in the City Park. Those attending were delighted to participate in a magic show presented by Bronson Chadwick funded with a grant from Coleman County Foundation. Mr. Chadwick is a past president of the Texas Association of Magicians and regional vice president of the Society of American Magicians. He’s entertained over 1,000,000 people.
