Cancer Health Fair offers education
HARRELLS – Fear can run rampant in a community and in a family when the word “cancer” is dropped. A grassroots effort to educate and to be a beacon of light was on the hearts of the Rev. Dennis Funderbunk and Rev. Veronica Murphy, who minister at The Murphy Chapel AME Church in Harrells.

“We actually bought the inn in 2017 and then reopened it in 2018,” she said. “The previous owner was a very talented architect and he had bought it from Hunter Cole. In that time, he had made all the rooms with ensuite bathrooms and made it into a bed-and-breakfast. Unfortunately, his mother became very ill and he was overwhelmed and just as I arrived, he put it on the market. Booker T. Washington High School Alumni Association held its Scholarship Luncheon on December 19, 2023 at Abigail Tea Room in Lumberton, NC. Miss Sydney Taylor McKoy was the recipient. She received a $500 check and a certificate. Sydney is a 2023 graduate of Dwight Englewood High School, Englewood, NJ. She is now enrolled at Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ, majoring in Communications and Public Relations. Elizabethtown -The first event of the 2024 season will be racing through town at Browns Creek Park this weekend, March 2-4. The event theme is “Beach Bash” so come dressed in your finest beach duds and decorate your PitZone area accordingly for all the sand we know exists in the infield. There are some exciting things in store this year including a new race course and an adventure ride opportunity on Saturday. Come explore trails we’ve never used before.
