5-Alarm News
ELIZABETHTOWN – The Elizabethtown Fire Department had the privilege of hosting the students that are a part of the Fire Academy at East Bladen High School. The students were tasked with demonstrating proper extrication techniques that included whole door removal from the car as well as roof removal. Students were also given the opportunity to experience firsthand the use of hydraulic tools that are certainly no easy task due to their weight.

BEULAVILLE – The East Bladen Eagles defeated the East Duplin Panthers for a 5-2 victory last Wednesday night in a non-conference match-up. Senior Aiden Hargrove reached first base on a Panthers error to load the bases with Na’Toren Corbett on deck.
A gift to the graduates of 2024: words of wisdom
There was a high school graduate who couldn’t wait to leave home and the rigors and rigidity of “the nest.” He thought his parents were the dumbest people on the face of planet earth. Four years later he graduated from college and for all he learned in four years, the most significant was wisdom that came from the experience of being on his own. He was surprised at how smart his parents had become in four years. Kind of a spin on the Mark Twain quote.
I have found grace, but my reading glasses are still missing
Have you heard the saying, “this gettin’ old – it ain’t for sissies?” I heard that the first time when I was in my 30s and laughed. Now as I just hit another mile marker in my life, I am no longer laughing. And if I do laugh, I am usually trying to remember what I was laughing about. The solution for that is not to tell me long jokes or to encourage me when I start in – telling one.
Dress it up for summer with Spinach Bow-Tie Salad with Teriyaki dressing
I shared a few Italian dishes lately. I think it’s now time to give the salad lover’s a taste. This will satisfy the most finicky of pallets with its sweet and savory flavors. It goes well with brunch, as a lunch or dinner salad. I always double the recipe when serving this to a larger group of guests as I found it went quickly. But if there is any left, it stays well in the frig as a left over.

The Critical Change of Revelation
The critical change of revealing your abundance. Now that’s a mouthful. In seven days, we have seen such a swing in the temperature! We shouldn’t be surprised as God changed the world in seven days. Things change. Seasons change. Days change. I look at the sequence of events surrounding the passion and I see the heart of a man change between sundown and dawn.
