White Lake Friends Inc. takes flight
WHITE LAKE – At Tuesday’s White Lake monthly council meeting, one of the main topics of discussion was the forming of a local small profit organization. It started last summer when a small group met to discuss creating a formal organization. These individuals wanted to educate about the area and work with other individuals and groups to promote and conserve the natural resources. The group included year-round residents and people with White Lake as a second home.
All-Waccamaw softball 2024
ELIZABETHTOWN – The East Bladen Lady Eagles had three of their own selected to the All-Waccamaw Softball Team–juniors Mollie Tolar, Martha Simmons and sophomore Niyah Wooten. Tolar finished her junior season with a BA of .290 for 20 hits, 10 RBI’s and she scored 21 runs on the year. She went 3-for-6 in her team’s victory over West Columbus and she crossed the plate four times in a 20-10 victory away from home.
All-Waccamaw baseball 2024
ELIZABETHTOWN – The East Bladen Eagles had three of three seniors named to the Waccamaw All-Conference team–Jake Futrell, Parker Greene and J’marius Smith. Futrell stood-out for the Eagles this season on top of the hill with 2.10 ERA and finished the year with a record of 7-3. He threw 11-strikes in a winning effort against Pender, while only allowing the opposing line-up two hits through seven innings. Futrell was also an integral part of the Eagles lineup with a BA of .273 for 18 hits, 17 RBI’s and he had an on-base percentage of .400.
