SEATTLE - It's nothing new, but a recent report conducted by the University of Idaho revealed that unauthorized immigrants play an important role in the state's economy, just like all around the United States. Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau indicate that the overall number of unauthorized immigrants across the country reached 12.2 million in 2007 before declining to 10.5 million in 2021. Out of that number, around 35,000 live in the state of Idaho and work in industries such as agriculture, services and construction.

Major Drug Seizure Near Pocatello by Idaho State Police
On July 2, 2024, the Idaho State Police Domestic Highway Enforcement (DHE) Team conducted a pivotal traffic stop near Pocatello, Idaho, leading to a substantial drug bust. While patrolling Interstate 86, a DHE trooper noticed a white 2015 Hyundai Genesis with an invalid registration and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, a 23-year-old woman from Tulare, California, was found to be without a valid driver’s license. The trooper noted suspicious behavior from the vehicle’s occupants and detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the car. Upon closer inspection, marijuana products were visible inside the vehicle.
