Shelley Duvall was unrecognizable before she died age 75

Shelley Duvall, famed for her roles in "The Shining" and a host of Robert Altman movies, has passed away at 75 due to diabetes complications .

Her life partner, musician Dan Gilroy, confirmed her passing to THR with a heartfelt statement: "My dear, sweet, wonderful life partner and friend left us. Too much suffering lately, now she's free. Fly away, beautiful Shelley," he expressed.

Duvall passed away peacefully in her sleep at her residence in Blanco, Texas , as per Gilroy's words.

While Duvall is widely recognized for her role as the terror-stricken wife opposite Jack Nicholson in Kubrick's iconic film "The Shining," it was director Altman who was instrumental in her career. He cast her in her debut role in the 1970 movie "Brewster McCloud" where she played the love interest to Bud Cort's character.
