Two Berkshire Peaker Plants Have Been Put in the Past
LEE, Mass. — Two peaker plants in Berkshire County have been out of service for two years and are in the process of demolition. Local environmentalists are rejoicing. "It's phenomenal," said Rosemary Wessel of the Berkshire Environmental Action Team. "To actually see the physical proof of a peaker plant not just shut down but removed is just more than we really expected and it's really great."
No major injuries in Sunday motorcycle accident
WHATELY, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Sunday afternoon a motorcycle and a car were in an accident at the intersection of Christian Lane and Route 5 in Whately. Institute of Diversity Sciences Announces 2024-25 Faculty and Student Sloan Fellows
Researchers in computer science and engineering at UMass Amherst and UMass Boston have teamed up to help diversify STEM culture across the UMass system with help from a $499,972 grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The team, called the Sloan Fellows Program, is led by the Institute of Diversity Sciences (IDS) at UMass Amherst and recently selected its second cohort of 12 faculty mentors and 18 undergraduate students.

Nancy Folbre, professor emerita of economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and director of the Program on Gender and Care Work at UMass Amherst’s Political Economy Research Institute, has been named principal investigator on a $2.7 million grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation to improve U.S. data infrastructure related to both paid and unpaid care provision.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey has hired Hunter Diehl as its director of hockey operations, contingent upon the successful completion of a background check, head coach Greg Carvel announced on Monday.
